Burn Clean – FAQ

The San Joaquin Valley Clean Air Program was started in 2009 to help reduce CO2 and 2.5ppm air pollution in the Central Valley. Since then, thousands of home owners have replaced their wood burning fireplace or stove with a more efficient gas insert or stove while saving thousands of dollars in cost. Check out this guide to learn more.

How much money do I get?

Starting Aug 2019, all homeowners who qualify will receive $3000 cash back towards replacing there wood fireplace or stove with a more efficient gas insert or stove. This money is sent in a check that comes directly to you after the installation process.

How long does the process take?

Once you have completed the application, we can send it to the air district immediately. Once we get the approval from the district, it takes about 4 hours to install the insert, depending on what labor needs to be done (installing new gas lines might take a bit longer). After everything is installed and complete, you will receive a check within 1-2 months.

How do I begin the process?

We recommend taking a few pictures of your existing fireplace or stove and talking to one of our comfort specialist at our showroom in Bakersfield. They have over 40 years of experience helping home owners and contractors choose the best insert or stove for their home. Each home is different and there are many technicalities to consider when adding a new insert or stove, such as size, material, gas line, and style. Our showroom features over 25 live fire displays so you can see and feel the flame before you decide. Our specialist are also trained to help new applicants with the process of filling out the Burn Clean application and can help make the process as smooth as possible. It doesn’t take long to fill it out, but there are some details that many people aren’t sure of. The application also requires pictures of your fireplace or stove to submit to the air district. Once you have completed the application, our staff will send it to the air district directly and track its status, so you can relax and dream about your new insert and stove.

I’m building a new home, can I use the voucher towards a fireplace?

The Burn Clean program only sponsors placing a gas insert into an existing fireplace or stove. If you are building a new home and would like to add a fireplace, our specialist can help you choose the best one for you for the best price in Kern county.

I received a voucher to the air district already, can Econo Air still do the project?

Absolutely! Some home owners get so excited, they do the process themselves and then come to our showroom. We can still do the installation and you will still receive the $3000 cash back rebate. We can also help with any questions you may have.
